College of Science Website Templates
Overview
The College of Science has created a set of HTML website templates intended to serve as a framework for other UA sites affiliated with the college at the departmental or program/center level. The objective in offering the templates is to allow departments, programs or centers to more easily craft their online presentations in a manner consistent with the 'look and feel' of the College of Science and other UA Science sites.
These documentation pages are meant to faciliate department or program/center personnel in understanding and utilizing the CoS website templates, but they do not constitute a style guide, per se. Rather, the templates should be thought of as a sort of defacto style guide: we recommend simply using the templates as the base HTML code (with attendant stylesheet) for your website project, and that should yield results consistent with UA Science sites.
Template Color Scheme
The department templates have been designed with three recommended color variations: red, blue and neutral (gray). The attendant style sheet for each color scheme will contain variations in heading, text and link colors consistent with the color selected. Note that program/center template pages do not have color scheme choices available and are based on the neutral variation below.

Intended Audience
This documentation is intended for department, or program/center personnel entrusted with the task of constructing website projects for their respective organizations. Although it is beyond the scope of this documentation to teach the basics of putting together a website from scratch, the templates will allow a person with basic HTML knowledge to construct such a site with minimal effort. Advanced developers will be able to use the templates as a 'front-end' in constructing dynamic websites.
Template Usage
Two sets of templates are available: templates intended for department websites; templates intended for program or center websites.
We realize that HTML documents are easy to change and somewhat malleable, but we do ask that you respect the intent for which the templates were created – please do not 'mix and match' the department and program templates or HTML structures. E.g. if your organization is a program or center, please refrain from 'dipping into' the department templates and instead use only the program/center templates (and vice versa if your organization is a department).
How to Use This Documentation
The links below (and the menus in the right-hand sidebar) provide access to descriptive pages that offer explanations of the various pages within each template set. The descriptive pages offer developers brief explanations of the underlying template HTML, as well as publishing tips to help keep the usage of the templates consistent with other UA Science sites.
Additionally, a download page is available for developers to download the source files for each template set. The download files contain a README.txt with additional technical information.
