The University of Arizona

Outreach

The University of Arizona is home to the largest concentration of science research and education in the Southwestern United States. Within the College of Science our programs span the physical, mathematical, environmental and life sciences. Some of our research programs and many of our scientists are among the best in the world.

Our natural setting in the Sonoran Desert of Southern Arizona contributes to this scientific land of plenty. High mountains and dark, clear skies have made our community an international center for astronomy. Our rocks, landforms, plants, animals, and our people - both present and past - all are resources for scientists, students and hobbyists.

We want to share this rich environment. In order to improve science and math education we invite teachers and students to our campus for courses and conferences, summer camps and competitions. We take our programs to classrooms all over the state. We offer our scientists as speakers and we enlist our undergraduate and graduate students as energetic teachers and role models for schoolchildren. We seek partners in the process of discovery.
