Outreach
Kids and Teens
A range of science and math-focused camps and workshops are available for young people. Many of these programs are traditional weeklong day camp experiences on the UA campus. Some of our premier summer camp programs take advantage of our close proximity to the UA's world-class telescope facilities on Mount Lemmon. All are designed to provide campers a research experience emphasizing hands on activity.
Science and Math Summer Camps:
BEEPOP (Native American Summer Institute)
Learn about honey bees, their hive dynamics, and how the Africanized honey bee has come to dominate large areas in the Americas. BEEPOP is for Native American high school students seeking summer experiences and for Native American undergraduates seeking summer employment.
Astronomy Camps on Mt Lemmon
Hands-on experience with research-quality telescopes and interaction with leading scientists for teens, adults and educators.
Summer Mathematics Camp I (Apache Math Camp)
Students experience what mathematics research is like by doing "exploratory" problems. Program open to 7th and 8th graders from White River Jr. High.
Summer Mathematics Camp II
Mathematically talented middle school students have the chance to directly experience research mathematics while interacting with math faculty and students.
