Creating Stewards for the Future of the Sea of Cortez

Peggy Turk-Boyer, Executive Director Emeritus and Founder, Intercultural Center for the Study of Deserts and Oceans (CEDO)

The once abundant life in the Sea of Cortez, one of the planet’s most treasured ecosystems, is at risk. The only hope for a sustainable future rests in a collective effort to save the Sea, including everyone from fishermen to students to tourists. For the past 40 years, CEDO, the Intercultural Center for the Study of Deserts and Oceans, a binational environmental organization based in Puerto Penasco, Mexico, and Tucson, has been working collaboratively to achieve a healthy and sustainable Sea of Cortez. Today, hundreds of thousands of stewards are making a difference. But is it enough? Find out in this Café presentation from CEDO’s founder and leading authority on the Sea of Cortez, Peggy Turk-Boyer.
