Teacher Preparation Programs
The College of Science offers programs that prepare students to become secondary science or mathematics teachers. These programs are designed for undergraduate students and include field experiences in the classrooms of area middle and high school teachers.
Science Teacher Preparation Program
The Science Teacher Preparation Program provides science majors the opportunity to take courses and engage in school experiences that will lead to a BS degree in Science Education, to eligibility for secondary science teacher certification, or to a minor in Science Education.
- Bachelor of Science (BS) in any of several science majors
- Bachelor of Science in Science Education (BSC) with four options in Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, or Physics

Secondary Mathematics Education Program
The Secondary Mathematics Education Program in the Department of Mathematics prepares individuals who will join the teaching profession as reflective practitioners. Students who complete the program, graduate from the UA, and pass required content and pedagogy exams through the Arizona Department of Education are certified to teach mathematics in grades 7-12 in the state of Arizona.
