Teacher Preparation Programs

Teach Arizona
Students interested in teaching science and teacher certification at the 6-12 grade levels are encouraged to earn a BS or BA degree in a content area that corresponds to one of the Arizona certification areas (Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, Physics). Upon earning the undergraduate degree, students may apply to the Teach Arizona program, which is a one-year program that leads to eligibility for teacher certification and an M.Ed. degree.

Secondary Mathematics Education Program
The Secondary Mathematics Education Program in the Department of Mathematics prepares individuals who will join the teaching profession as reflective practitioners. Students who complete the program, graduate from the UA, and pass required content and pedagogy exams through the Arizona Department of Education are certified to teach mathematics in grades 7-12 in the state of Arizona.

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mathematics (Mathematics Education)
